Future Workforce Conference

Future Workforce Conference

The demand for skilled men and women in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries continues to rise, while the number of people available to fill these positions continues to decline.

AEC companies are taking concrete steps to cultivate and retain an empowered workforce via great benefits packages, innovative spaces in which to work, and continuing education programs.

At the same time, educational institutions are continuing to refine their curricula around developments in the field and are partnering with major industry players to create a two-way path of communication that will better prepare students for their career and create a conduit of innovation for corporate partners.

Although these efforts are changing the culture of the AEC industries and creating a new generation of men and women excited by AEC careers, entrenched workforce habits remain.

Diversity of women and minorities is still a concern, workforce health and wellness continues to be a challenge, work life balance is a perennial topic of debate, and workplace safety is vital.

Over the course of this full day conference, we will explore these topics in order to better understand how companies and employees are cultivating the next generation of AEC leaders in order to sustain the health and growth of their companies.

BuiltWorlds Hackathon 2017

Dozens of new studies are shining the light on the “slowness” with which the built industry has adopted technology.

But in 2017, with more affordable costs and less risk, there’s no longer an excuse not to take a stake in tech investment.

This November, we’re helping industry companies get a “taste” of what technology can do for their business.

Introducing the BuiltWorlds Hackathon.

It’s a week-end long competition where all-star developers, makers, and designers gather to hack creative solutions to burning AEC industry problems, using the world’s most cutting-edge technologies.

Buildings 2.0 Conference: Design, Systems, Energy, and Standards

The idea of intelligent buildings is seductive. Sensor enabled smart buildings that know when they need cleaning, heating or cooling. Buildings that harness rainwater, use less and recycle more. Resiliency buildings that withstand disaster. Sustainable buildings made from only environmentally friendly materials. Digital-friendly buildings that support the way people want to live in 2017.

Join us as we spend a half day at UI LABS exploring the possibilities, what we truly want from our future buildings, and what more needs to be done to bring our goals closer to reality.

Cities Conference: Best Practices in Global Infrastructure

Many people have asked, why those of involved in designing and building American cities cannot achieve the results that are being witnessed in cities across Asia and the Middle East?  Why are we unable to rebuild infrastructure that was designed to last 75 years, but that is now 150 years old?  Why has it been so difficult to develop sustainable financing models and create resilient solutions that address a changing climate and endemic violence in urban centers?
