Steve Holzer

Stephen Holzer is the Principal of eM8s, LLC in Grass Lake, MI. eM8s, LLC is a real estate technology project management firm. Mr. Holzer is responsible for providing comprehensive internal operations tools, technology system implementation, and services to production homebuilders. He has over 30 years of experience in business process development and management leveraging electronic technology in the construction industry. Mr. Holzer has worked both in executive management as well as function as a consultant to residential and commercial construction and development entities. He has developed a comprehensive, web-based, home building Sales (CRM) and Internal Operations (ERP) system through his eM8s label as HomeM8 and CADeM8.

Considered by many to be an international subject matter expert in the field of BIM, Steve participated in the development of the National Building Information Modeling Standards - United States (NBIMS-US) as a member of the NBIMS-US Project Committee and a member of the National Institute of Building Science (NIBS) buildingSMARTalliance (bSa).  He served as Vice Chairperson of the NBIMS-US v3 Market Education Committee.

Steve has led technology implementations in the Homebuilding industry since 1981. Many of those years his role started out as VP of Purchasing and Estimating for production homebuilders building 100 to 700 units per year. Typically, his role evolved into enterprise wide business process development and documentation combined with technology system implementations as the Vice President of Internal Operations. In the 1990s, Steve was employed for a time by FAST Management Group assisting production building companies throughout the nation implement their FAST systems.

Steve served on the Business Management and Information Technology (BMIT) committee, the Education committee, and the Design committee of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).  During 2012 and at the International Builder Show in 2013 Steve facilitated the passage of an NAHB resolution recognizing the National BIM Standard US.

In February of 2014, Steve became a founding board member of the Non-profit AEC Hackathon (www.aechackathon.com). The AEC Hackathon is a series of events held to bring together diverse members of the AEC (Architect/Engineering/Construction) industries with technologists to create disruptive technologies to improve the outcomes of the creation of our built environment.

Steve presents at numerous building industry programs like the NAHB National Green Building Conference and Expo in Nashville, TN.  He has also contributed articles to the NAHB BizTools Business of Building eSource newsletter.
