1. PlanGrid announces new Field Reports tool

PlanGrid just unveiled their new program, Field Reports, a tool that allows workers to fill out daily reports via mobile app. Field Reports adds many features to the PlanGrid platform, including offline reporting, photo attachments, numerous input options and daily summaries for users. Superintendents now have the ability to fill out forms from anywhere and can continue to push for a fully paperless jobsite.

2. Moving up at Mortenson

Mortenson Construction promoted Joel Sandridge to Project Development Executive from his former manager position. Sandridge will now lead Mortenson’s Chicago project development team and set business strategy along with pursuing new markets. Sandridge, who joined the company in 2015, has worked on many large-scale projects, including Northwestern University and Harper College.

3. New feature for BuildingConnected

BuildingConnected announced a new addition to their software program — Opportunity Manager. With this new feature, subcontractors can easily input and organize projects in the BuildingConnected interface, helping to further streamline bidding and reviewing projects.

4. Caterpillar facility closing

Aligned with long-term efforts to minimize cost, Caterpillar will be closing its manufacturing facility in Morgantown, NC. An estimated 85 employees will be laid off from the Morgantown plant.

5. Procore + DEWALT partnership

DEWALT and Procore announced DEWALT’s newest product — a WiFi mesh system — Wednesday. The tool will improve internet connectivity for jobsites via portable ruggedized access points. This tool will pair with Procore’s Construction OS platform, the company noted. DEWALT also announced plans to release an IoT platform in the future.

6. People on the rise at CBRE

CBRE promoted three employees this week. David Gavin was promoted to senior vice president, Michael McCall to first vice president, and Jacqueline Novotny to vice president. All three employees will be based out of CBRE’s Westchester/Fairfield office in Connecticut.
