Innovate or die: Meet Cat VP Greg Folley

In May, construction equipment giant Caterpillar Inc. launched its new Analytics & Innovation (AI) division, led by Corporate VP Greg Folley. The move is part of the global manufacturer's effort "to foster a culture with innovation at the core, form a broad and connected analytics ecosystem and manage strategic third party relationships" with providers like Uptake, a start-up with which it signed a technology and predictive analytics agreement. Cat also said it is seeding money in a venture capital fund in Silicon Valley to support emerging technologies.
