BW adds veteran AEC editor
to growing content team

Building on its growing battery of industry content expertise, BuiltWorlds is pleased to announce the addition to its staff of award-winning writer and editor John Gregerson. He joins BW this month as senior editor.

"The depth and breadth of John's experience is really rare in this industry, so we feel that his addition helps us to achieve critical mass as we expand our editorial coverage," says BW cofounder and managing director Matt Abeles. "Our team continues to grow, but it's smart growth. John is a key piece to our puzzle, so we are thrilled to be able to add him to our masthead."

Formerly editor-in-chief of Building Design + Construction (BD+C) magazine, Gregerson served the last five years as midwest regional editor for rival Engineering News-Record (ENR). There, he contributed to to the flagship publication, but was primarily responsible for producing ENR Midwest, a bi-monthly regional edition. He also managed enr.com/midwest, and edited the ENR Midwest Insider e-newsletter.

“I've always enjoyed allying myself with enterprises seeking to enhance the built environment and am particularly excited now about contributing to BuildWorlds," says Gregerson. "I realize BW is little more than a year old, but it already holds a unique place in our industry in its dedication to promoting conversation, collaboration, and concepts that advance best practices. I am a big fan of all of that."

A graduate of the University of Illinois, where he still writes for the alumni magazine, Gregerson is the recipient of numerous writing honors, including the American Business Media's Jesse H. Neal Award. He first joined BD+C in 1981, rising in the ranks there from associate to senior editor, then managing editor and later editor-in-chief. "The BD&C name and its readership reflected a pioneering interest in collaboration among project stakeholders," notes Gregerson. "That concept helped to promote the growth of modeling tools such as BIM, as well as alternative project delivery methods like design-build, CM-at-risk, lean building and IPD. So I am very happy now to re-immerse myself in these ideas."

As BW senior editor, Gregerson will cover a wide range of industry topics, from company profiles and thought leader interviews to project innovation news and market analysis. On occasion, he will even contribute some commentary. "Given John's decades of experience, we are most comfortable adding his voice to ours," says Abeles. "It only makes us stronger."

On the editorial team, Gregerson now joins BW content development director Rob McManamy (himself a former BD+C chief editor), and content manager Todd Stolarski, a writer and multimedia specialist with considerable Hollywood experience, primarily at ABC Television. BW now also boasts a sizable and growing stable of experienced industry freelancer correspondents.
