SMART Technologies at the AEC Hackathon - Seattle

Developers from SMART Technologies arrived at the AEC Hackathon in Seattle with a SMART 55" Interactive Flat Panel and an SDK for app integration. Gadgets and hardware are always a big hit at these events, and the SMART board drew a crowd as the team demonstrated ink and gesture integration on several popular AEC applications.

Hackers took turns on the board, each bringing their own questions and brainstorm ideas.

Can we run an Android app on the board?  Hmm, let's install an emulator on the Windows box and try it!

Can we draw on a Revit model?  Yes, we have a plug-in for that.

The SMART Board is multi-touch enabled and can differentiate between pen, finger, and erase gestures.  By sending these touch types along with the coordinates, applications can infer user intent on each gesture.  No need to switch input types in the app interface, the board knows what the user is doing.
