Fieldlens Strikes Gold With Biz App Award

Its motto is “Save Time and Go Home Early,” a concept as desirable for workers in stores and offices as it is for their counterparts on jobsites and at drafting tables. So it comes as no surprise that NYC-based Fieldlens, a maker of project communication apps, has managed to win notice outside the AEC space. Last week, the firm was named winner of the 2015 Gold Award for Best Business and Productivity App from North Haledon, N.J-based Best Mobile Apps Awards (BMAA).

"This is a very competitive award for best apps — not just construction apps," notes Aubree Munar, content manager for FieldLens. "We think winning awards like this means that people outside the construction industry get how important (it) is... And it's exciting to get recognized among names like SalesForce, Adobe, and Wired."

Intended to promote excellence in software solutions, the annual program is non-industry specific and honors apps in categories ranging from Best Overall App to Best Mobile Game. This year's winners were culled from between 200 and 300 entries and selected by both software consultants and MBAA staff members, says BMAA Founder and CEO Eric Solan. To qualify, contestants were required to supply a copy of the candidate app, and all contenders had to be English-language based. Winners were announced Jan. 18.

Specifically, Intel Security Battery Optimizer won top prize – Platinum – in the Best Business and Productivity App category, while Pryvate, a privacy encryption application, received the category's Silver Award.

Despite the mainstream competition, FieldLens is encouraged that its app still managed to win over the judges. "They get that simple, realtime communication is the way for project teams of all sizes to save time and make projects successful," adds Munar. "And they share our opinion that the experience should be as easy and enjoyable as it is using top apps in any industry."
