As BuiltWorlds continues to gather momentum now in its second year of operation, the Chicago-based multimedia company this week announced that it has added successful Ohio entrepreneur Paul Belair as a special advisor for industry outreach. A seasoned CFO and former president and owner of a national mechanical, energy management and roofing contractor, Belair brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the built environment, particularly in the operations and maintenance market.

Belair will focus on O&M outreach.

"We are very excited to add Paul to the team," said BW founder Matt Gray. "I have known Paul for years and always found him to be sharp, honest and very forward-thinking. And he brings O&M expertise with him that I know will make us an even more useful resource to an even wider customer base."

Added BW cofounder Matt Abeles, "This also expands our geographic reach, which is nice. And Paul possesses an energy and zeal for improving this industry that fits perfectly with our mission."

From 2000 to 2015, Belair served as president of Youngstown OH-based Roth Bros. He became its owner in 2006, but later sold the national contractor to facilities management giant Sodexo. An avid mentor and active philanthropist, he is an angel investor who has provided early stage funding for several start-ups across the U.S. Belair is currently liaison officer for the worldwide sustainability business network at the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and formerly served on the executive committee of the Youngstown Business Incubator.

"I really like what BuiltWorlds is doing, so I couldn't be happier than to channel my skills into this effort too," said Belair. "The O&M side of our industry needs this collaborative innovation as much, if not more, than anyone. So I'm thrilled to have this chance to continue to make a difference on this stage."

Belair will advise BW mostly from the road, but is still expected in Chicago frequently in the months and years ahead. Wherever he is, the company is confident that his impact will be both lasting and positive.
