BIM/IPD Group coming to BuiltWorlds

BIM/IPD Group coming to BuiltWorlds

| March 19, 2015

Building information modeling (BIM) and integrated project delivery (IPD) are two relatively new facets of our industry that work well together, but not perfectly. With that in mind, HOK Design Technology Manager David Ivey started the Chicagoland buildingSMART Group to foster a much broader, industry-wide discussion of the common challenges faced with BIM/IPD.

As Ivey told HardHatHub.com last summer, "Over the years we’ve grown to almost 500 members. On some nights, there are five of us. On other nights, more than 100 will show up. The great thing about these meetings is that you get a chance to hear about issues other professionals are dealing with, discuss solutions, meet your peers, and maybe have a slice of pizza and a beer."

Building on that collegial spirit, BuiltWorlds next week is honored to host an augmented version of the group's monthly meetup, BIM/IPD Night, featuring Ivey, and three special guest speakers:

  • Nancy Clark Brown of Assemble Systems, on how to collaborate on BIM data in real time;
  • Josh FarkasCubicle Ninjas, (below, center) on the virtues of Virtual Reality for architecture;
  • Steve Crowley, Graycor, on the all-for-one, IPD team success attained for BP in Whiting IN;
  • David Ivey, HOK, on common BIM pain points, and how best to overcome them.

Please join us at BuiltWorlds for what should be a truly engaging and constructive program. For more event information, to buy tickets or to get directions, click here.
